Chanel Evening Look using Products from Winter Nuit Infinie Collection

Hello glamour girlies!

You'll have to excuse my lack of posts this week. I've been busy cleaning out my entire room because I just realized that I'll be back in school in no time. I start work next week and I start school the week after. I can't believe Christmas vacation passed by so fast already! It's also been very cold here in Montreal these past few days. Like -30C cold. It should start to warm up pretty soon though.

So what's today's look all about? I got a few things from Chanel for Christmas. I really wasn't expecting all that. Now that I've tried most of the things, it's time to let you all know what I thought. I got some perfume stuff, which I'll do a review on later. Today's is going to focus on the makeup, specifically from the Nuit Infinie Christmas 2013 Collection.

If you're interested in how I got these curls, I used the Babyliss Miracurl. I did a review and tutorial here. I'm also going to be doing an update post on how I did the current curls I'm wearing, so keep checking for it.

The Review

From this collection, I got two items. I got the Ombres Matelassees Eyeshadow Palette in Charming. I also got the Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 84 Accent, which I've spoken about before in a post. I have to say I was extremely impressed with the quality of all the eyeshadows. The only other Chanel eyeshadow I own is a quad in Smokey Eyes. I just found this out myself, but in every country other than the USA, the Chanel Quads come as round baked eyeshadows. In the US only, they come as non-baked, regular square eyeshadows. I hear the US version is much better quality, but I haven't been able to test this out myself yet. The next time I go to the US, I'm definitely going to pick up another quad in Smokey Eyes to test this out. So with that said, the Eyeshadow Palette in Charming is not baked. The pigmentation was amazing. A little bit of eyeshadow really did go a long way. It blended well. I was just all around really happy with it. It made application a breeze. You could see each colour for what it was, meaning they didn't just blend into each other and all look the same. The first shade (let's number them from 1-5 from left to right) is a light beige shade that worked extremely well as a highlight shade. The second shade, which is a light brown, worked well on the lid. I found it went on darker than it looked in the pan. The third colour, a golden medium brown, would also make a great lid colour. This was the only colour I didn't use in my look. The fourth colour is a very dark brown, and I used that as a crease colour. The last colour, a dark grey, was used to deepen the outer V and I used it to line top and bottom lash lines. I was very very impressed with how well these eyeshadows worked. I definitely recommend getting this palette, if you can still find it.

I also just want to mention that I thought it wouldn't be so pigmented, which is why I wore it pretty heavy. I packed a ton of shadow on my brush and when I applied it, I thought, WOW! PIGMENT! But then it was too late to go for a lighter look.

I've mentioned the Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 84 Accent in a recent post. It looks quite brown in the pan, but it applies as a pinky brown. You can really see the pink so it's best worn as a blush and not as a bronzer (which I almost tried to do first haha). It's very neutral and light, not overly bright or anything like that. There's a slight shimmer to it in the pan, but when applied it isn't too noticeable. The colour can be built up if you like it darker. I was very surprised with this product. When I first got it, I really didn't think I would like it because I thought it looked too brown. But after I tried it I realized how wrong I was. I think this might end up being a go-to blush for neutral and natural looks. I love it. I really really recommend you trying this blush. I ended up really really liking it and I thought I wouldn't at first.

So that's my little review of the new products from the Chanel Winter Collection. I also did a recent nail post using a Chanel nail polish that wasn't part of this collection, but did launch around the same time as this one. It was part of the Nuit Magique collection and the nail polish is called Magic. How my mother didn't buy Cosmic, I'll never know. She knows my favourite colour is black and she buys the blue polish and not the black one with silver sparkles! And I'm still trying to hunt Cosmic down....

Chanel Evening Look using Products from Winter Nuit Infinie Collection

I started by priming my eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Then I applied shade 2 from the Chanel Ombres Matelassees Eyeshadow Palette in Charming onto my lid using a medium eyeshadow brush. Then I applied shade 4 into my crease and outer V with a blending brush. I applied shade 1 under my brow and in the inner corners using a blending brush. I also blended out some of that crease colour. Then I deepened the outer V with shade 5 using a pencil brush. I used that brush and my blending brush to blend the two colours together. Then, using the pencil brush, I lined my top and bottom lash lines with shade 5. I made the liner very smokey and smudged looking. Next, I lined both top and bottom waterlines with MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline and I applied Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. The last step was to fill in my brows using Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in Medium.

To prep my face, I primed it using Too Faced Primed and Poreless. Then, I concealed my under eye circles using MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 and using a concealer brush. Then I applied my foundation, MUFE HD Foundation in 110, using a stippling brush. I covered any imperfections and redness that were still showing using MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW20 using my fingers. Then I set everything with MUFE HD Powder and a kabuki brush. I started by contouring my face first using Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless and a contouring brush. Then I applied Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 84 Accent using a blush brush and making sure to blend outward and down into the contour colour. Then I highlighted my cheekbones and other areas with Physician's Formula Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent Pearl. I like to blend everything together using a kabuki brush at this point. The last step is to apply Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in 87 Seashell.

So I hope you enjoyed the look! I used two products from Chanel's Nuit Infinie Winter 2013 Collection in my makeup look and used some other products to make it all come together. I actually really like how this look turned out and I have to say that I really did love both new Chanel products. The eyeshadows were pigmented and blendable and the blush was a beautiful pinky brown that looked natural and beautiful, I think it's great to use for natural and neutral type looks but I haven't tried it with other colours yet. I just like how it looks super natural when blended out. I used a Chanel lipgloss to go with this look, cuz why not, and Seashell is a pretty nude colour with slight pink and sparkles and a glossy look. The rest of the products I used are all pretty much my current favourites. I should do a post soon on that. So tell me what you thought of Chanel's Nuit Infinie collection. Did you find any products you like or did you pass? I have to say I'm really happy with both gifts.

Steph xo.

PS. Expect a hair post really soon! And I'm almost done that Hits and Misses 2013 post I've been talking about. I'm just full of ideas lately.
