MAC Makeup Haul #4

Hello beautiful glam girlies!!

Okay seriously what the EFFF! I just woke up from a nap to find my cup of iced tea all over the floor. I don't move much in my sleep so it couldn't have been me. My bottle of advil was knocked over too but still on my table. I always put my cup there and it's never been knocked over before. I'm thinking maybe it could have been my cat?? He's always messing around with things on the little table. Unfortunately I stepped in this mess as I got up out of bed. My floor is so sticky, ahhh!! I'm sad to waste such precious Tropicalia tea :(  (from David's Tea). On another note, I'm going to try their Tropicalia Colada recipe tomorrow, yay alcohol!! I also bought the ingredients to make Long Island Iced Teas so I'm going to be trying out my recipe tomorrow. I also bought a few shot glasses so I can easily measure out ounces. Hello girly drink fiesta!!

Today I'm showing you my latest MAC haul. I'm showing you items from the last few times I've been shopping that I haven't had a chance to try out yet!! I ordered a few discontinued shades online, Purple Haze and Shimmermoss, as well as a couple of eyeshadows in their permanent collection, Vibrant Grape and Vellum (Vellum is a pro shade) so I could qualify for free shipping. Before checking out, I looked around for any coupon codes and ended up finding one for free express shipping (no mins) so I used that and it came fast!! I had placed my order on Sunday, I received it at 8am on Tuesday. Vellum is on backorder though, so I will only be receiving it in about 2 weeks. I don't mind waiting since they didn't have it at the Pro Store. I also purchased a few other things, which you'll see down below  ;)

There's pics of everything except Vellum, obviously. I can't wait to get it ahhhh!

I also got a 15X Eyeshadow insert for my double palette. No pics, cuz it's kinda boring haha.

You'll also be seeing a new makeup look using a few things from the list below. It's my own spin of the look I did on my mom. Green Smokey Eyes = Hello Sexy. It'll be up tonight or tomorrow. If you haven't already, go check out the look I did on my mom!

So I hope you liked this haul post and hopefully it gives you some ideas on colors that you want to try out or haven't particularly noticed before. I find I like to see people's top MAC eyeshadow picks so I might do a post on my own top 10 MAC shadows. I don't understand why MAC discontinued Purple Haze. It's such a nice matte purple!! I fell in love with it while swatching it at the store and then found out it was being discontinued :(  Thank god for online shopping. Vex is a cool color, it's a highlight type color with a pink/purple shine but also goes well with green. I'm falling in love with Mineralize Eyeshadows as I wrote above. I love Cinderfella and Smutty Green and I can't wait to try out Young Punk. I'm also falling in love with MAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liners. I discovered them not that long ago. I find they're the best shimmer eyeliner I've tried. I love them. Black Swan is my favorite and Undercurrent is such a beautiful teal!! I can't wait to try it with teal shadows. Lastly, I bought my first ever nude paint pots. I only own Blackground and I love it for smokey eyes so I figured I would try neutral ones as a base and see how the different finishes enhance certain colors and finishes. I'm going to try to make it my mission to try them out tomorrow.

So again, hope you enjoyed!! Do let me know which eyeshadow you like the best out of the ones I bought. I also want to know what your top 10 MAC eyeshadows picks are so write a comment!!

If I have time, I'll post that Green Smokey Eye Look tonight. If not, then it'll be up tomorrow!

Empties and Extras #2

Hello dolls!!

Here's another edition of Empties & Extras. I have to say that I have a ton of skincare extras because I use skincare products like the apocalypse is tomorrow. As a teenager, I never really suffered from acne. The most I got was an occasional pimple, sometimes twice at one time. But now in my early twenties, my pimples are bad. I know it's not the worst case of acne out there, but it's the worst it's been for me. So I use skin products like they're going to be discontinued soon. So a lot of empties are skincare products. The rest, obviousy, are makeup. I was getting a little tired and fed up at the amount of containers I'm hoarding so I'm doing this post. For future posts I might wait until I have more makeup empties so that it's more interesting. Let me know if you found this post boring and want more makeup empties. The only reason I initially included skincare and other empties was because I didn't think I'd have enough empties to do a post more often than every 6 months.

As for the Extras part.... well, there aren't really any. Well there's nothing new, to be precise. So I'll leave a link at the bottom to the previous Empties and Extras post so you can see all my extras. I honestly haven't bought anything or received anything that is an extra to what I already have. An Extra, to me, is a product that I have a double or triple or whatever that I'm storing until the opened one is empty. I also count samples as Extras too.

I was going to do the Fashion look from the Too Faced Natural Eye palette but I was tired and fell asleep and woke up with smudged makeup haha! So I'll do it soon for you guys. Sucks cuz I really tried to use products that I don't normally use, and it looked great. The day before that, I went out for supper with my bffl Lisa. Again, no pictures, but we looked hot in our dresses! We went to Deville Dinnerbar, and I gotta hand it to them, the drinks and food was pretty good! They make a pretty good spin off of the classic Long Island Iced Tea. I tried a bellini for the first time in my life, and I didn't like it. I almost wanted to steal my friend's drink because she had ordered the Long Island Iced Tea because she liked mine so much. Her first drink was the Litchee Martini, exact name I don't remember. We had a great time and exchanged birthday gifts. Our birthdays were a while ago, mine in April and hers in May, but we were busy and hadn't been able to see each other. I got her the Nails Inc Bling It On Rebel nail set, which you can see here. She got me the David's Tea Summer Tea Set and ahhh I'm so happy. My favorite teas are dessert teas and fruity teas so I definitely loved the set. Plus I had wanted some more Tropicalia and I can't wait to try the other teas. Yum!

So let's get onto my makeup empties!

Empties

from the Body Shop:

Coconut Body Scrub - 1 x 300mL container and 1 x 200mL container

Coconut Body Butter (1)

Tea Tree Face Mask (1)

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion (1)

Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash (1)

Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion (2)

Vitamin E Moisture Serum (1)

Seaweed Pore Perfector (1)

I know, I go through skincare products like the apocalypse is coming tomorrow and I have to have a perfect face so that I might find the perfect man to protect me from an incoming horde of zombies. I really, really, really like my skincare products. Ever since my face started going haywire and producing more pimples than it did when I was a teenager, I've been trying to fix this problem. So far, the pimples always seem to win. But this regimen is helping a lot and I get less pimples, they're less noticeable, and my skin is better. I highly recommend these products, they work for me, and I hope they work for you too. I've repurchased all of these products. Every single last one. And I use them daily. So yes, I strongly recommend these products and I will be repurchasing them unless something way better comes along. The only one I'm not currently using is the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion because the lady working at The Body Shop recommended the Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion instead. She said it would help my cheeks and not be as drying as the Tea Tree. So I'm giving it a try.

other stuff:

Clean and Clear Acne Wash (1)

Softlips in French Vanilla (1)

I use Clean and Clear Acne Wash for two purposes: the first is actually what it's made for, as an acne wash, and the second is to remove my makeup. I've been using this since I was a teenager, and I always go back to it. I've already repurchased this product and I do recommend it for both reasons. Now, for Softlips, it has got to be greatest lip chap/lip balm/ whatever you call it these days EVER! I use it all the time when my lips get chapped and I'm trying to get into the routine of putting it on at night before I go to bed. You can see how much it's been loved, the label has completely rubbed off. I've already repurchased this as well as another product from Softlips called "Nourish" (I think?) and I always keep one in my purse. I definitely recommend them.

and finally, from Sephora:

Benefit High Beam (1, mini)

Too Faced Primed and Poreless (1)

MUFE HD Foundation in 110 (1)

Oh Benefit High Beam, how I love thee! This is the greatest highlighter I've used, and I've tried quite a few. It's the perfect color for me and it's something I would DEF recommend to light to medium toned girls that want a nice highlight. I've repurchased this and I even have another mini. Love love love it. Too Faced Primed and Poreless is also another product that I love. I use this all the time to prime my face before foundation and it's really great. It makes your skin nice and smooth and my foundation goes on so easily, and I use less foundation because of it. This is the only face primer that I use and I will continue to repurchase this. I already have a new one that I'm using. I recommend this to someone that is looking for a good pore refining face primer. The last makeup empty is MUFE HD Foundation. I love this foundation. This is my second empty container since first buying this product last fall. The color matches perfectly to my skin and you can choose what kind of coverage you want, from medium to full. I like the way it feels on my skin and the way it goes on and blends into my skin. I knew right away that this was my holy grail foundation. I have repurchased this and I recommend this to everyone! They have a huge range of shades and I'm sure that you will find a good match to your skin color.

Extras

I really haven't bought or received any extras compared to what I already had. Obviously, I won't have the same amount, but I do store extras of the products I love, especially skincare because I use that stuff a lot. I don't want this to be repetitive so I'm not going through everything again, but if you want to see my old extras, then check out my first Empties & Extras #1 post.

I hope this was an interesting post as I am quite curious myself when it comes to seeing other people's most used products. I hope this helped people on their quest to find their own holy grail products that they will want to use up til it's empty!

Thanks for reading, as always, and I hope this was entertaining even though skincare practically took over! But don't worry, I'll be back to doing makeup looks tomorrow. I'm still working on doing that Dupe List for Too Faced Loves Sephora palette. Trust me, there are a lot. Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Green Eye Look on my Mom using MAC

Hello glam girls!!

I have so much to talk about.. and I've already written most of it in posts I was planning on publishing, but haven't, mainly because I fell asleep in my makeup before taking photos and when I finally woke up, it was smudged really badly.

I'm going to show you a face chart of a look I did on my mom today. Unfortunately, she didn't want me to post the pictures of the makeup I did. Not because she didn't like it, but because she just doesn't like putting herself out there on the internet. Especially since it was a darker look and not one that she is used to wearing everyday. She did, however, give me permission to take a photo of her eyes. I'll be showing you both the face chart and the pic of the eyes. I found the blank face chart on google and I printed it onto watercolor paper. The watercolor paper makes a HUGE difference and it enables the pigment to stay onto the paper. You can even use makeup brushes to apply the makeup onto the paper.

Since this is a bit different than my usual posts, I'll explain it detail how I did the makeup and I will list all the products I used on her. I will most likely also do the eye look on myself. I used MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Smutty Green, which is I just bought the other day and still haven't used on myself. I also bought Young Punk, which is also a Mineralize Eyeshadow. I also ordered a few discontinued eyeshadows online, which are: Shimmermoss and Purple Haze. I also ordered a Pro shade, Vellum. The last shade I got (in order to qualify for free shipping) was Vibrant Grape. I'll be showing all the new MAC stuff once I get my shipment. I don't like doing a bunch of small posts. I really would have liked to show more pictures, but I will definitely be doing a look using Smutty Green and Young Punk (though not necessarily together) in the near future.

So here's the look and the face chart:

Green Eye Look using MAC

To prime the eyes, use a paint pot if you have one or a sticky base if you don't. I used MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW20 as my sticky base so that the sparkles from the Mineralize Eyeshadow would stick. It works just as good as a primer. Apply it to the entire eye area and use a blending brush to blend it out if necessary. Next, take MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Smutty Green and apply it to your lid using a medium eyeshadow brush. Then take MAC Eyeshadow in Greensmoke and apply it to your crease, outer V, and outer lid using a blending brush (MAC 217). Make sure you blend it all the way to your inner eye. Take MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom and apply it between your brow and your crease color and blend out the crease using a blending brush. I like to go back in and blend out Greensmoke again. Then take MAC Eyeshadow in Phloof! and apply it to the inner corners of the eyes as well as under the brow. Looking back, for an older person such as my mom, I would have used MAC Eyeshadow in Vanilla instead of Shroom and Phloof!. There's enough sparkle on the lid, we don't need more in the crease. For a young person, however, Shroom and Phloof! are great. To line the bottom lid, use MAC Eyeshadow in Humid and apply it using an angled liner brush. The last step is to apply mascara, like Too Faced Lashgasm. My mom didn't want to put on mascara because it irritates her hard contact lenses, but that is the mascara that I would have used on her.

For the face, I didn't use a primer. I forgot! But I would have used Too Faced Primed and Poreless. I then went and covered her under eye circles with MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer in NW20. This is the concealer that I normally use on myself, but it was the perfect color for her and it really hid her circles. This concealer really impressed her and she's going to buy one. I then did her foundation using MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NW18 and a foundation brush. I find that the numbering is weird, NW18 is much darker than NW20. While this didn't work for me, it was perfect for my mom. I set the foundation and concealer by using Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent and a powder brush. Make sure it's applied evenly all over the face. Now it's time to contour using Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless and a contour brush. Suck in your cheeks as a guide and contour under your cheekbones, on your chin, on the perimeter of the face and the temples. Then take NARS Blush in Orgasm and apply it to the apples of the cheek and blend it outward and make sure it blends into your bronzer. Then apply Benefit Watt's Up highlighter to the cupid's bow, chin, and the tops of your cheekbones. I like to apply powder on top so that it isn't as shimmery. I do think that my mom is getting a little too old to be wearing highlighter, so I probably wouldn't put this on her the next time I do her makeup. On a young person, it would look fantastic. The last step was to put on a lip liner, MAC Lip Liner in Soar, and a lipstick, Illamasqua Lipstick in Test.

Eyes:

MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW20 (used as a base)
MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Smutty Green
MAC Eyeshadow in Greensmoke
MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom
MAC Eyeshadow in Phloof!
MAC Eyeshadow in Humid
Too Faced Lashgasm Mascara

Face:

MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer in NW20
MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NW18
Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent
Benefit Watt's Up
NARS Blush in Orgasm
Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless

Lips:

MAC Lip Liner in Soar
Illamasqua Lipstick in Test

Here are some photos of the eyes:

I hope that the post was still enjoyable. I will do a proper post along with swatches and everything when I do the look myself. I got a bunch of new products recently and I can't wait to try them all out and show you guys. I really wanted to show the whole makeup look but my mom really didn't want me to. But that's okay, I will do a look using Smutty Green in the very near future. Thanks for reading!

Dark Sparkly Black Smokey Eyes using MAC

Hello hello glamour girls!!

Today I'm doing yet another one of my famous smokey eyes. I always get complimented on my makeup everywhere I go. I was at the Chanel makeup counter with my mom and the SA told me she loooooved my makeup and asked if I had got it done at a nearby counter. I swear this happens to me all the time. I told her nope, don't need to, cuz I do it myself! But then they say "Oh well are you a MUA?" And I honestly wish I could say yes to that questions, but I'm just a girl trying to pursue a career in sciences. But makeup is a serious hobby for me, but nothing more, just a hobby. It's something I would like to do part-time, but it isn't a career for me. I'd like to get into it more though as a part-time job. Take a few courses and practise on people and buy a range of stuff and put out some ads. That's still a while away but it's good to hear that people like my makeup skills. I really do like this look more than the last one I did using these products. The more you blend, the nicer your look turns out. I didn't think blending a paint pot was a big deal, because I had never used one before, but it did. I have to say that I was super happy with how this look turned out and I hope you like it too.

I don't know if any of you have noticed, but I went on Sephora's site and saw that instead of VIB, I'm a "VIB Rouge". So I clicked on that to check what that is. It's a new level and it's the ultimate level you can be. There is Beauty Insider, then VIB, and lastly, VIB Rouge. To get to VIB status you had to spend 350$CAD a year and to get VIB Rouge you have to spend 1000$CAD a year. You get better perks, such as free shipping all the time (no more 75$CAD min!), free makeovers at Sephora whenever you want, free gifts, invites to exclusive events, etc. It sounds better than the crap you get as a VIB now, I just hope I actually get a free gift. I'm supposed to get a new card with coupons the next time I make a purchase at Sephora so I'll let you know what kind of coupons you get. Speaking of Sephora, I was there today and they finally got some of the new Too Faced stuff!! I saw the Pretty Rebel palette and I have to say it was nothing special. I have a lot of colors that look like dupes and similar colors. While it's great for someone that doesn't have a beauty collection or similar colors, it's not that great for the already beauty obsessed. They also had the gold glitter eyeshadow thing. Oh and they had It's Better Than Sex Mascara. That's one thing I want to try. Next time I'm around, I'll try to last the day without mascara so I can try it on! That's all they had, no Lip Injection Color Bombs :(

I also went to MAC and bought a few things. I got 3 eyeshadows: Vex, Knight Divine, and Quarry. I just got a little bit of everything to add to what I already have. I'm getting close to having what I want in my collection. I have to revamp my eyeshadow list soon. I also got an eyeliner, a Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Undercurrent, which is a beautiful green with a bit of teal to it. I honestly didn't know it was that nice until I swatched it. I can't wait to try this in a look, it looks amazing.

So about the look, I already did a look that was pretty much exactly like this. As to what extent, I have no idea, I didn't check. The reason why I wanted to do this over again was because I now know how to use Paint Pots better than how I was doing it before. Like after applying it to my lid, I made sure to blend it out in my crease so I don't get such a harsh line. I also didn't overapply, which lead to it smudging off when my eyes tear up. I did find that it lasted longer without using Too Faced Shadow Insurance, which is weird to me because I love Shadow Insurance and it works great with eyeshadows. But I guess not as well with Paint Pots, but that's okay. I definitely think that today's look is better than the one I did before. I used the MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Cinderfella pressed onto my lid because holy cow, I'm obsessed with mineralize eyeshadows ever since I first "discovered" them. I used Black Tied in the crease and outer corner to make it a bit darker than the rest of the eye, but still have some sparkle. I used Carbon last time and it was too dark and black, it needed some sparkle. MAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Black Swan is so so so beautiful! It's a black liner with sparkles and it's perfect for any smokey eye look. I love that liner. For the face, I chose Chanel Joues Contraste in 64 Pink Explosion because I wanted to bring some color into the face because I had a really dark eye. I thought this was the perfect choice for me to not end up so pale looking. That blush and contour using Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless really made the face beautiful. It's soft enough for the eyes to be the main focus. And for the lips, I used Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 68 Candeur, which is a light pink. Again, you want to go with light pinks or nudes with a smokey eye because all the focus should be on the eyes. This is a very hydrating lipstick and it looks amazing. Now read on to find out how I did the look!

Dark Sparkly Black Smokey Eyes using MAC

Start by applying a black base to the lid like MAC Paint Pot in Blackground with a large or medium shadow brush (Sephora PRO Large Shadow Brush). This is going to act as an adhesive for the eyeshadow and it will give it a darker color. Apply it all over the lid and up to the crease. Make sure you get the inner corner of your eye as well. Now take a clean blending brush (MAC 217) and blend out the crease. Blend it until there are no harsh lines. If you need to, go back in and apply more Blackground if it has been smudged off the lid. Now take MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Cinderfella and push it onto the lid using a shadow brush (Sephora PRO Medium Shadow Brush). It's important to push it onto the lid so that it sticks onto the base. You don't want to sweep it on. Now take MAC Eyeshadow in Forgery and a clean blending brush (MAC 217) and blend out the black shadow just above the crease and apply it as a highlight. Now take MAC Eyeshadow in Black Tied and a crease or blending brush (Sephora PRO Crease Brush) and apply it to the crease and outer corner of the eye. Blend the crease into Cinderfella. If you need to, go back in with Forgery and blend it out. To get a nice smooth cut line on the outer sides of the eye, I take a folded piece of kleenex and some makeup remover and I wipe off the fallout and I get a nice crisp line. I rinse off the makeup remover on my face without touching the eyeshadow. Now I usually go onto the rest of the face and I come back and finish the bottom lid later. Take MAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Black Swan and line your top and bottom lids. This is a really pretty sparkly black liner, it's perfect for smokey eyes! Take MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Engraved and fill in the top and bottom waterlines. Now take MAC Zoomlash in Zoomblack and apply to your top lashes and it's optional to apply to your bottom lashes as well. The last step is to fill in your brows! Using Benefit Brow Zings, fill in your eyebrows and do a dramatic arch. This will emphasize the focus on your eyes. Now you're done the eyes, let's do the rest of the face!

Start by priming your face with Too Faced Primed and Poreless. Cover your under eye circles using MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer with a concealer brush (Sephora PRO Concealer Brush) and then put on MUFE HD Foundation using a stippling brush (Sephora PRO Stippling Brush). If there are any areas of redness, or blemishes, use MAC Studio Finish Concealer to cover them up. Once you're happy with that, set your foundation and concealer using MUFE HD Powder and a kabuki brush (MUFE HD Kabuki). Contour your face with Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless using a contouring brush or a powder brush squished down into a line (Sephora Collection Powder Brush). You want to suck in your cheeks and follow the line as a guideline to contour them. Also do the perimeter of the face, temples, down the sides of the nose, and wherever else you want. Then apply Chanel Les Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 64 Pink Explosion using a blush brush (Too Faced Powder Pouf) and apply it to the apples of the cheek and sweep it outward towards the sides of your face. Make sure to blend it into the contour and blend the cheeks. Now apply a highlight, like Benefit High Beam, to the tops of your cheekbones, chin, cupid's bow, etc. The final step is to apply Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in 68 Candeur, which is a nice light pink. You're done!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed today's post and that it wasn't too repetitive!! I really do think that I did a much better job this time around, now that I've got the hang of MAC Paint Pots and Mineralize Eyeshadows!! I thought this look was absolutely stunning. Everyone complimented me on my makeup. Smokey eyes have definitely always been my thing, ever since I was a young teenager. I'm wondering, do you think I pulled it off better this time or last time? What do you think of the look? What is your favorite MAC Paint Pot and fav MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow? I'm also wondering what your favorite MAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner is. I love Black Swan and I just bought Undercurrent and it's such a nice color. I'm also wondering which Chanel blush is your fav and if you liked the one I use and same thing with their Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks. I have to say that I love all the products I used and I do use them quite often. I've got a lot of new favorites.
