Bright Purple Smokey Eyes using Stila In The Moment palette

Hello ladies!

[I'm going to be taking a little break to focus on schoolwork and exams. I'm starting to work on Monday part-time from now until I'm done school, so I'll be very busy and unable to post regularly. Of course I will try to post when I can and I'll try to at least finish off what I've already started. Another one of my friends passed away today and I need a little bit of time for myself at this point. Here's the post I prepped yesterday but wasn't able to finish in time.]

I was planning on doing a couple posts but things came up. For one of them, after taking pictures of my makeup and starting to edit, I realize I have this massive black smudge under my eye and that my eyeliner is coming off. I had washed my face already so there was no way I could redo it that day. I really hate when that happens. It's a 10 Minute Makeup tutorial and the theme is a simple color accent. I was also going to use all my new drugstore finds! I still plan on doing this but it'll take a little while longer.

I'm also going to be doing that Perfect Palette Tag that keeps going around! I'm definitely a palette girl, as I hoard a ton of them. So I'm pretty excited to be able to go through them and show them to you and tell you about why I like them.

But moving on to today, wow did any of you go Black Friday shopping? Cuz I did! And it was insane! I was online at Sephora last night at midnight adding a bunch of things to my cart and by the time I check out, around 1am, I realize that a bunch of my items are out of stock!! Total bummer! I kept refreshing and a few things popped back and I was able to get them, but the one thing I really wanted was sold out. It's Philosophy's Purity cleanser, by the way. A 34$CAD value for 12$CAD!! In case you don't know, Sephora's Black Friday deal is that they have a bunch of minis on sale for 12$CAD or 10$US and it is a great value. Since they didn't have my cleanser, I decided to order Philosophy's 500 Point Perk instead, which contains a mini Purity cleanser. Come today, my mom went shopping at Sephora at 10am and they had my cleanser!! So my mom got two for me. Which is the maximum they let you buy for an item. So now I have a bunch of Purity! I am definitely going to be doing a Black Friday Shopping Haul but I was planning on waiting for my box to arrive full of all my online goodies. It'll probably take at least a week for it to get here so it might be awhile before I post about it.

So about today's look. I decided to go for a Bright Purple Smokey Eye. I realized that I don't have a tutorial on doing a bright purple eye, most of the time I'm always doing dark purples, or blackened purples, and sparkles. I love wearing purple smokey eyes even though I don't wear them as often as I used to. I think purple looks great on a lot of people, and to me, it's a staple makeup look that everyone should do. I always pair a purple eye with pink blush and lip color, the two colors look perfect together and make the look complete. A very long time ago, I got samples of three of Stila's palettes and I never got around to trying them out, partly because I didn't want to mess them up (I know right? I'm so weird). I'm using the In The Moment palette, which is the purple one. I'll include a picture of the actual palette and not the sample I'm using since you can't get it anymore. For Black Friday, Sephora has put certain things on sale and this palette is one of them! Instead of the regular price of 50$CAD, it is now 26$CAD!! Which is the same price as one of their Smudgestick Waterproof Eye Pencils!!! So naturally I bought one, it's an insane crazy deal. Out of all the four, I like this one and the brown palette (In The Light) the best. But the only ones on sale are this one and the green one (In The Garden). So get this palette on sale while you still can. The reason why I like this palette so much is because of its versatility. There are lots of browns and purples, so you can pick whichever color you want to wear that day. That's why I like it a bit better than the brown, you're not stuck with only brown shades, though I do like that palette as well. Oh and I forgot to mention that each palette comes with an eyeliner and I'm using the one that comes with this palette. It didn't come with my samples, I already have it. So I've blabbed on long enough, continue on reading to see how I got this fabulous look!

I'm not doing any swatches for this look because this is a sample palette and there's not much there. However, I will be swatching the entire palette when I do another tutorial using it after I've gotten it shipped to my house. Sorry!

Bright Purple Smokey Eyes using Stila In The Moment Palette

As usual, start by priming your eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Using Stila's In The Moment palette, start packing Impulse onto your lid using a medium shadow brush (MAC 239). Now, using a blending brush (MAC 217), blend Glance into the crease and outer V. I like to feather the color up and out. Then, take a crease brush (Sephora Pro Crease Brush) and lightly dust Instinct under the brow bone to highlight. I also like to add a bit in the inner eye. I also like to go back in and blend the crease again. Once you're happy with your eyes, take the eyeliner that comes with palette, which is the Stila Smudgestick Waterproof Eyeliner in Tetra, a sparkly dark purple. Line both top and bottom lash lines. Then take MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline and fill in both top and bottom waterlines. Then apply two coats of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and you're done the eyes! Just fill in your brows using Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in Medium and you're ready to move on to the face.

Again, start by priming your face with Too Faced Primed and Poreless. If you have under eye circles, apply MAC Pro Longwear Concealer using a concealer brush (Sephora Pro Concealer Brush). Then apply MUFE HD Foundation using a stippling brush (Sephora Pro Stippling Brush) to get an air-brushed effect. If there are any pimples or redness still showing, cover them up using MAC Studio Finish Concealer. Then apply MUFE HD Powder with a kabuki brush (MUFE HD Kabuki) all over your face to set the foundation and concealer. Then, using a contour brush (MAC 168) and Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless, contour your cheeks, the perimeter of the face, the temples, the nose, etc. Then apply MAC Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet So Easy using a short duo fiber brush (MAC 130). Start at the apples of your cheeks and blend outward and down into the bronzer. Then take a powder brush and Physician's Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent Pearl and apply it to the tops of your cheekbones, the cupid's bow, the brow arch, and anywhere else you want to highlight. The last step is to apply MAC Lipglass in Oyster Girl. If you want your makeup to last all day and all night, apply a few spritzes of Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! I can't believe it took me this long to do one of the Stila palettes, but it's finally done!  I'm pretty sure this palette is only on sale for this weekend for Black Friday so remember to buy it if you're interested before it goes back to full price! 26$CAD is a fantastic deal. That's the price of one of Stila's eyeliners so it's like you're buying an eyeliner and getting a whole entire palette for free. Only two out of four palettes are on sale, In The Moment (purple) and In The Garden (green), and the other two are regular price.

What did you think of my softer bright purple smokey eye? I thought it was a pleasant change to my usual shades of blacks and browns. I also find a light pink goes perfect with a purple eye. I can't really say much about the quality of the shadows, since I'm using a sample that's pressed onto a sheet of paper so it's not necessarily the same as the actual palette. Stila's eyeliners are decent to line around the eyes, but I don't like them for lining my waterline. So what did you think of today's makeup look? I'm in love with MAC Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet, So Easy. It's a perfect yellow-toned pink and the cream can be layered until you reach your perfect opacity. I preferred to go softer today. Their lipglass in Oyster Girl was my number one favorite lipglass as a teenager. I used to wear it all the time. Nowadays, I've found other products that I like better, but I always come back to this one. The rest of my makeup is pretty much the usual except the under eye concealer. I mentioned that I got the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. Now that I've been using it for about a week, I can say that it is better than MAC Select Cover-Up, not that Select Cover-Up was bad or anything, it's just slightly better so it has now become my holy grail under eye concealer.

So enough of me talking, what did you think of my lighter purple smokey eye? Did you like Stila's In The Moment palette? Which is your favorite out of the four palettes? I have samples of each of them except the blue one, so is there a look you want me to do using the other two palettes? Also, what is your favorite MAC lipglass? Thanks for reading!

Don 't forget to vote in the poll on the right-hand side bar!
