Sephora Montreal 1 Year Anniversary Event

Hey dolls!

Today's post is a little different than the usual, because I'm telling you about an event, or rather chain of events, that is happening all month long. For those of you that live in Montreal, like me, you probably know that Sephora's 1 Year Anniversary is coming up. I can't believe it's only been a year!! It feels like I've been shopping at their downtown store forever. I was sooooo unbelievably ecstatic when they finally opened a store in the Greater Montreal Region. That meant no more harassing parents for a drive over to Fairview or Laval!!

So in case I wasn't clear, these events are only happening at Sephora's Downtown Montreal location (Ste Catherine street).

To celebrate this amazingness, Sephora's is having an event almost every day of the month of June! Big brands such as Yves St-Laurent, NARS, Dior, Benefit, Makeup Forever, and more are coming to the store to do what they do best, makeup!!

The one event that I really want to go to is Benefit's Brow Bar. I've never gotten my eyebrows done before (and I mean never ever in my life) and God only knows how desperate these eyebrows need help. I don't even know any places to go to to get my brows done and neither does my mom. I guess we just aren't brow ladies??

Usually for events at Sephora, you do need to make an appointment if you want your makeup done. No appointment needed just to roam the store.

Without further ado, here's the flyer and calendar:

So get your butts down to Sephora and take advantage of this. Sorry I posted this a little late, I wanted to call and book my brows but I keep forgetting, so I decided to post it anyway. If you've seen my photos, then you KNOW how badly I need these brows fixed.

Us Montrealers are pretty lucky this month :)

So tell me, will you be taking advantage of Sephora's 1 Year Anniversary month-long event? And if so, which brands are you looking forward to most?

Have fun and see you at the Brow Bar!

Steph xo.

P.S. Sephora Montreal is not going to be selling Philosophy products anymore, the shipment that they got in was just a one-time thing, unfortunately. So if you love Philosophy products like me, please complain to the store manager when you go to the event AND make a complaint online. Hopefully if enough of us complain, we CAN make a difference!!

Green and Purple Eyes using MAC (Summer Look)

Hello lovelies!!

I really wanted to show you guys a look using Club eyeshadow but the more I thought about how I was going to do it, the more confused I got. I had no idea what I was going to do. I did some googling to get some inspiration, and I saw that you have to use a black base, such as a Paint Pot in Blackground, to get that green/blue duochrome out. Without it, you'll just get the red/brown, which isn't that nice. I tried it out with some Fluidline before I decided to commit to buying the Paint Pot. And oh my goodness did it look amazing. And I got the Paint Pot. So I'll be doing a look tomorrow using Club and I'll show you the difference between not using a base and using a black base.

But for today, I wanted to do a green and purple look, which ended up making me think that I look like a mermaid. I'm not kidding. I used Steamy and Parfait Amour and they really look great together. It's fun, but still wearable in the day (if you don't work in a conservative work environment) because the colors are light. Even the MAC ladies were impressed with my look. I used the MAC Zoomlash in Zoomblack mascara, which I haven't used in a while. I was feeling really MAC today. Let me know which mascara you prefer, MAC or Too Faced.

I knew I wanted blue toned pink lipstick so I used MAC Raspberry Swirl and I put MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm in Cheery Cheery on top, both are from the Baking Beauties collection. I found a perfect dupe for MAC Raspberry Swirl, which is MAC St-Germain. They are identical. St-Germain is the slightest bit richer in color, while Raspberry Swirl is creamier (it is a Cremesheen). You will only notice this if you really look close, if you look at your hand (where I swatched) you will not notice a difference. I also encourage you to put the St-Germain Lipglass on top if you want it to be glossy.

For the cheeks, I used MAC Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet So Easy. I really really like this color and I find it can go with a lot of different pink shades, even though it's pink with yellow it still looks good with pink with blue. When you apply it, it isn't too much, so you don't have to worry about putting on a lot of color by accident. It's buildable, so you're able to keep applying until you get the amount and shade that you want. And of course I finished off this look with Too Faced Pink Leopard and Benefit High Beam.

Et voila! The finished look. I was really happy with how it turned out, I had never used these colors before. I really find it gives off a mermaid vibe, especially since my hair is still wavy from curling it a few days ago with my straightener. This look definitely made it onto the Tops list. I'm actually in love with how this turned out.

Again, I know that the MAC lipstick in Raspberry Swirl was limited edition and is no longer available but they have an exact dupe, the MAC lipstick in St-Germain. I found this out randomly when I went there today to get the paint pot and I always hear great things about St-Germain, so I wanted to check it out. I had some lipsticks in my purse and I compared them and swatched them. It was the exact same thing!! I know when I finish Raspberry Swirl, I'm buying St-Germain. Plus you can also buy it as a Lipglass.

So I hope you enjoyed the look! Please let me know what you think. Did you like the eyes and the choice of colors? Do I look like a mermaid (lol)? Do you like the lipsticks? Do you like the blush? What is your favorite MAC eyeshadow, blush and lipstick and why? Did you think the MAC mascara is better than the Too Faced mascara that I usually wear? Let me know what you think about today's MAC look.

Thanks for reading!!

Black Smokey Eyes using Stila's Jingle All The Way palette

Hello precious readers!!

I finally did a look that isn't Too Faced lol. I thought it would be a nice change to do something different. I'm using Stila's Jingle All The Way palette, which is from this past Christmas. I got it recently on sale on a shopping website that my mom always goes to. I forget what the name of it is, my mom did the shopping. I got this palette and a bunch of other stuff for really great prices online. I bought all their old stuff they were getting rid of, like their Christmas stuff. It's not even that old. Just because it's not new doesn't mean it's not still usable. If you've seen my Stila Haul post then you know all about the stuff I got super cheap.

The Jingle All The Way palette is a black smokey eye palette that has 6 eyeshadows and 1 convertible color, which is a cheek and lip colour. I used the lightest shimmer silver (Bell), the shimmer black (Prancer) and the matte black (Pine). I thought the shimmer black would go on sparkly and not black black but it went on quite matte and super dark. It looks exactly like the matte black in the palette.I was a little disappointed but the richness of the colour made up for it. The convertible color is a lovely pink color called Daphne. It is not part of their permanent collection, unfortunately, because I would have loved to buy it when mine runs out. It doesn't go on too dark like some of their other convertible colors. I'm able to layer it so that it looks nice on my super pale skin. It also looks really nice as a lip color. Even though this was a limited edition palette, I think it might still be available on Stila's website for about 9$US if I'm not mistaken. Great deal, huh? I know!!! At this price, you definitely can't go wrong buying it.

I also want to say that I got caught out in the rain (it had stopped way earlier so I thought I'd be okay) and it was really humid today. My eyes tend to be oily in the inner corners. Because of the rain and muggy weather, my eyeshadow came off in the inner corner and in a line in my crease :( It's a disaster when you're wearing black eyeshadow!! Luckily I brought the palette with me so I was able to fix it. It just sucks when that happens. And I also really don't like the quality of Stila's Smudge Stick Eyeliners. They don't stay on!! They always come off and when I try to reapply I end up rubbing more of it off. I only used it I wanted to try to be consistent with the Stila look. I should have used my Sephora + Pantone Universe Foiled Eyeliner set because they are much better quality. I need to invest in more sparkly black eyeliners.

I hope you like the look! I love doing smokey eyes so this is another way you can do it using this palette. This palette might be old, but for 9$US now, it's quite a good deal. You can always use other colors to substitute if you don't have this palette. I really wish they sold Daphne, I really liked it.

Did you like the look? Do you like Stila's Jingle All The Way set? Are there any other mini sets like that from them that you liked? Are you a bargain hunter or do you prefer to have things when they first come out? Did you like the convertible color in Daphne? Do you like Too Faced's Pink Leopard? Do you like Benefit's High Beam or do you prefer another highlighter and which one?

Thanks for reading and don't hesitate to leave me a comment!

Too Faced Loves Sephora Palette Review

Hello dolls!!

I haven't done a review post in a long time. Sure, I've talked about the products I've used in a look and why I like it or not but I haven't done a post strictly reviewing a product. I'm going to be reviewing the new Too Faced Loves Sephora palette, which is exclusive to Sephora and it celebrates Too Faced's 15th birthday as well as their 15 years working together. My mom bought this palette for me as a little treat along with a couple other items. I was so ecstatic! I really wasn't expecting this even though I was hinting at it every chance I got.

Too Faced Loves Sephora Palette Review

This palette contains 10 eyeshadows (2 are slightly bigger), 1 blush, 2 bronzers, a mini shadow insurance, and a flatbuki brush.

Eyeshadows:
Piano Keys (bigger): shimmer off-white
So Cal: shimmer light pink
TF <3's The Cast: sparkle/glitter silver/gold
Jer Jer: shimmer bronze
525 Market: shimmer purple/brown
Behind The Counter (bigger): matte medium brown
Soho: shimmer light purple
Envy: shimmer dark purple
David & Marg: shimmer green/blue/teal
1998: shimmer with a bit of sparkle violet

Blush:
Who's Your Poppy?: pink with a touch of coral

Bronzer:
Chocolate Soleil: matte dark brown
Sun Bunny: shimmer, dark brown and a more golden brown (2 colours)

It also comes with a Glamour Guide, showing you 15 looks you can do with this palette.
I've already tried the Alison, the Artemis , the Jen and the Stephanie and I've even tried my own look. I'm going to try all the looks in the Glamour Guide eventually, as well as come up with my own look.

The Glamour Guide is very straightforward and shows you easy to slightly difficult looks. I know some people have trouble doing the cat eye, just a little bit of practise and you'll get it. Always use the guides as a basis for your look and adjust it to your eye shape. You don't need to do the exact look on the card, do what looks good on you.

As I've come to expect from Too Faced, the shadows are really pigmented and come on quite easy. They're all shimmer except for Behind The Counter. TF <3's The Cast is a glitter/sparkle shade. I find the colors are a bit light, like Soho for example, but I'm in love with the night so that's probably just me. There is a look for every occasion in this palette. I wanted it to play around with bright colours, since that's something I don't really do too often. My favorite eyeshadow in this palette is David & Marg. I just love this green. It reminds me of MAC's Aquadisiac.

The blush, Who's Your Poppy?, is a really nice colour that should be pretty much universal for almost every woman. I really like this blush, it looked great on me. They also included their two most popular bronzers, Chocolate Soleil and Sun Bunny. I don't think they do anything special for me, I much prefer Pink Leopard, but they are decent bronzers that give me a nice summer glow. I also prefer Bronzed and Poreless as a matte bronzer because it is lighter than Chocolate Soleil and it is a better shade for my light skin. And all 3 shades were a generous size. Which I love because it's almost even fullsize.

The Verdict: I would definitely recommend this palette to a friend! But only if she likes bright colours along with her neutrals, because it's a summery and fun palette. I really enjoyed doing the looks in the Glamour Guide and I think other women would like it as well. Too Faced always comes out with high quality products and I'm never disappointed. All their products are cruelty-free, but this palette is not vegan.

I hope you enjoyed my review on this product. I've been using it every day lately to try out the different looks and I'm always impressed at how well the looks turn out. I would definitely run out and buy one before they're all gone!!

Did you like this palette? Would you buy this? Let me know what you think about the Too Faced Loves Sephora palette. What is your favorite eyeshadow shade? bronzer shade? What did you think of the blush? What did you think of all the looks in the Glamour Guide? I encourage you to show me your own looks!! Are you buying this palette this summer before they're gone forever?

The "Stephanie" Look from Too Faced Loves Sephora palette

Hello glam girls!!

Today I finally did the "Stephanie" look from the Too Faced Loves Sephora palette. I say finally because anyone would have probably done their namesake's look first lol. So I did the "Stephanie" and I have mixed feelings about this look. I think it's a little weird with the fuchsia in the inner corners of the eyes. This is definitely not something I would wear every day. I'd probably only wear it if I had some sort of weird theme party to go to or something. The fuchsia shade, 1998 has a few sparkles. The shade Jer Jer is a bronze colour. TF <3's The Cast is a silver/gold sparkle shade. I paired Stila's Lipglaze in Joy with this look. Joy is a fuchsia colour, with I thought went great with the 1998 shade. I was hoping my namesake look would be amazing but it kinda disappointed me. I guess it'll be up to me to make amazing Steph Stud makeup looks!!

I hope you enjoyed the look!! It's not my cup of tea personally. Even though I didn't like the look, I have to say that the quality of the eyeshadows is excellent. Great pigmentation and staying power, as usual. I love Too Faced products because their products are consistently great quality. The blush and bronzers are fantastic as well.

So what did you think of the "Stephanie" look? Did you like it or hate it? What criticisms do you have? Did you like the Stila Lipglaze in Joy? Did you like the Too Faced Loves Sephora palette? Would you purchase it? What is your favorite eyeshadow shade in this palette? And your favorite bronzer? What is your favorite look from this palette?

Here are some other looks that I've done from this palette: my look, the Alison, the Artemis, the Jen.

I'm working on a Review of the Too Faced Loves Sephora palette, it should be up tonight.

I'm also working on:

Cruelty-free and Vegan Makeup Brands: I'm listing 30 brands and determining who is cruelty-free and who is not and I talk a bit about how you can find out who's cruelty-free

Empties & Extras: I have 7 empties just waiting to have 10. I show you all the empty containers I have and all the extra makeup items I've either stocked up on or seem to have in my drawer.

Makeup Basics Page: Just making sure that I've included everything that I want to include on this page. It's almost done!!

I'm hoping I finish most of this by the end of the week. I've been asked to do a list of cruelty-free brands and I'm pretty sure if misinformed a friend in the past. Some brands are really sketchy with how they word their position on this matter. I'll explain all this in the post.

What would you like to see me post about? Send in your ideas for topics, reviews, etc.
